Publications like Gazette are critical to democracy

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Nobody’s perfect but, personally, I have watched The Gazette evolve from a quite conservative newspaper 25 years ago to an enlightened print media that recognized the far right shift in Iowa beginning with Branstad and a red heavy legislature as a major negative for Iowa’s public education, health care, LGBTQ rights, small farmers, clean water, etc. Their editorial pages are largely critical of the governor, our Washington and Iowa legislators, and their efforts to damage the stability of the above issues.
Sorry they disappointed some readers regarding the No Kings protest coverage, but overall I enjoy The Gazette and urge all of to remember how critical the print media is to our democracy.
