Public option would provide competition
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I know that editorial cartoonists want to impart their personal political views with a chuckle. Cynicism about government is always an easy way to get one, but the Sept. 24 editorial cartoon showing a health care reform chart with the word “taxes” in nine boxes wasn't accurate. The word “savings” should have been written in those boxes instead.
A public option will hold down health care costs and even cut them across the board by providing much-needed competition to the bloated for-profit insurance conglomerates.
