Proposed U.N. treaties dangerous
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jan. 11, 2014 12:49 pm
The United Nations is trying to sneak several dangerous treaties through the U.S. Senate:
l The U.N.'s small arms treaty would trample the Second Amendment and force law-abiding U.S. citizens to surrender their legally purchased guns.
l The U.N. convention on “rights of the child” would give U.N. bureaucrats the power to monitor parenting decisions made by some U.S. parents.
l The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) would put control of oceans, including U.S. territorial waters, into the hands of U.N. bureaucrats.
l A new tax treaty would impose a $400 billion tax on U.S. citizens.
l The U.N.'s International Criminal Court would allow foreign officials to prosecute U.S. troops and other American citizens.
Write to Iowa Sens. Tom Harkin and Chuck Grassley and express your feelings about these proposed dangerous treaties.
