Proposed smoking ban is nonsense

To the editor:

Regarding the proposed smoking ban on municipal golf courses and trails, I have a few questions.

What harm has come to a non-smoker who golfs, walks or bikes on municipal properties or trails?

What legitimate medical research has documented any such effect in an outdoor environment?

Who cleverly chose a $50 fine that can't be protested?

I have biked the trails for as long as they have existed and the litter is nearly nonexistent, rarely a cigarette butt.

You people on this committee have found the proverbial 'Tempest in a teapot” and should come to your senses.

I fear 'Big Brother” is watching us.
