Properly display, show respect for flag

I am a senior at Belle Plaine High School and have seen the poor condition of many flags being displayed in Belle Plaine. The American Legion has a special ceremony July 4 to properly dispose of those flags.
If people knew the flag had to be displayed with a light at night, I believe they would either take the flag down at night or provide proper lighting.
Everyone should respect our flag, country and all those who serve or have served to give us the freedoms we have.
