Professor Lewin's response was inappropriate

If University of Iowa professor Ellen Lewin's response to college Republicans was appropriate, my local butcher should be regarded as a surgeon. Many respondents online seem to think she's getting highly positive responses from faculty, truly a sad state of affairs at an institution of higher education, if accurate.
One respondent wrote, “Another guess of mine is that conservatives are, for somewhat understandable reasons, the most closeted group at the University of Iowa.” He also stated that “almost any university you might think of” would be sympathetic to Lewin's stance.
Pity.
It has been my general experience that people more worth listening to tend to avoid the condescension (synonyms: distain, arrogance, aloofness, snobbery) displayed by Lewin and her supporters and that they try to draw opposition into meaningful discussion.
If Lewin is the best the University of Iowa can do ...
