Privilege to be on Honor Flight
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 10, 2013 12:47 pm
It was a great honor to be on the Honor Flight on Sept. 10. It will never be forgotten. I thank the Quaker Oats Co., here in Cedar Rapids, their employees, and all the people who contributed. Also, I wish to thank all who welcomed our plane back around 11 p.m., staying up late even though many had to go to work the next day and some drove many miles to be there.
If not for these veterans, our country would not have the freedom we have today, whether you realize this or not. When you see a veteran, stop the person, shake his hand and merely say, thank you for your service. Veterans Day is next month, make it a point to remember all veterans who made this land free and continue to do so.
