President Obama doing good job in tough time
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 14, 2010 11:47 pm
I would give President Obama a B-plus for his first year. People forget that when he came into office we were facing economic collapse and a second Great Depression. That didn't happen because he assembled a competent economic team and took measures to prevent catastrophe.
Our economy hasn't completely recovered and job losses are a huge issue. Americans want instant gratification, and many are suffering and anxious. No one ever predicted the economy would be able to recover quickly, but it is certainly improving.
Obama has kept our country safe, has assigned skilled generals to our military missions and made America respected around the world again.
In the midst of these successes, the right wing has attacked relentlessly with lies and distortions. Obama has been a moderate president, yet they still call him far-left, radical, socialist and even Nazi. The level of partisanship is absurd.
Obama has done as well as anyone could have expected under the circumstances, given what he inherited.
