Preserve what’s left of Cedar Rapids' history

While reading Preservation magazine, I was intrigued with the various projects which preserve architecture and history around the United States. There was even a photo of the Cedar Rapids First Christian Church which has since been demolished. That reminded me of our beautiful train depot once in downtown Cedar Rapids, the former YMCA, Peoples' Church and beautiful Victorian homes along First Avenue. These buildings are gone now due to a laissez-faire attitude or in the name of progress. I hope that the future leaders of our community will preserve the unique buildings that are still left standing.
