Preserve Second Avenue route in Cedar Rapids
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 25, 2010 12:36 am
Along with other Cedar Rapids residents, I have been waiting for the proposed Second Avenue Traffic Study. After reading the guest columns on The Gazette Opinion page of July 18 concerning the proposed Medical Mall, I am bewildered by St. Luke's Hospital CEO Ted Townsend's remarks - those about “the letters” and guest columns from those in opposition coming from well-meaning people with a different vantage point, either on keeping a street open for an easy escape through town or not doing anything as a community to help “rich doctors,” out of fear of adding to already sky-high costs of health care.
Second Avenue has been and hopefully will remain a safe and convenient route to the downtown, the west side of the city and beyond. I am not familiar with the “rich doctors” comment that reportedly has been expressed.
