Powerball revamp doesn’t benefit players

To the editor:
In a July 8 Gazette article 'Powerball jackpots get longer odds,” lottery officials announced another change to the Powerball drawing starting Oct. 4.
It will increase the odds of winning from 1 in 175 million to 1 in 292 million or 1 in never. Officials say there were too many lower jackpot winners and slumping ticket sales. This will be the eighth revamp in its 23-year existence.
Officials need to change the name of the drawing to Powergreed. If there was a winner at every $40 million drawing look at how many people would benefit.
But greedy officials can't stand a good thing and hopefully this eighth revamp will kill it.
