Postal workers saved the day

To the editor:
Being unable to use them, my sister-in-law mailed me two tickets each to the UI vs. Wisconsin and UI vs. Nebraska football games. I intended to share the Wisconsin tickets with my son and the Nebraska tickets with my nephew.
On the way to pick up my son for the Wisconsin game, I mailed the tickets to my nephew from the central post office. Fortunately, I checked the tickets at my son's house because I had mailed one ticket to Nebraska and one ticket to Wisconsin.
We rushed back to the post office. It was 12:20 p.m., the post office closed at noon. There was a woman postal worker who was collecting mail who came to my assistance when she saw me frantically banging on the door. She went to the back processing area and in an instant there was a male postal worker with a set of keys to the drive up mailbox. He opened it and we found the envelope. I ripped it open and got the Wisconsin ticket. I said I would take the envelope home, put in the Nebraska ticket and resend it. He said, 'Don't bother with that. I will take it and tape it closed for you and mail it today.” And sure enough, he did.
Those two went above and beyond and saved the day for my family. I don't know their names, but I hope they know how much we appreciate what they did for us that Saturday and every day.
