Poor plow response time making streets less safe

I really like how the city of Cedar Rapids held a vote and won that vote to take care of our streets.

Here is where my argument comes to play. It snowed last Friday night (Jan. 31) or early Saturday morning (Feb. 1). We got about 2 inches, maybe more in some areas. I live on a side street in a somewhat hilly part of town. We did not get plowed at all. None of the streets did in our area. This is not the best thing for a couple of reasons.

l Safety; vehicles have a tough time getting up and around on the unplowed streets.

l The snow and ice melt on the streets, thus seeping in the cracks then refreezing, causing potholes and more.

My guess is that the city wants the tax money and will make any excuse to get it, because if the city truly cared about the safety or condition of our streets, then the streets department would take care of the streets.

I did call the city streets department about this matter and I was told they plow all streets with 2 or more inches of snow and that they would send someone out to plow our street.

Plow and take care of our streets, then I wouldn't have to call. Plus, we would have safer streets.
