Poor, disabled can’t help themselves

To the editor:
Seeing that the Options of Linn County program is being canceled, it brings to mind the Abbe Center closing, the Iowa Juvenile Home closing and the fact that nursing homes' standard of care is 46th in the nation, according to federal standards.
Why is no one realizing that our troubled youth, our mentally ill, and our senior feeding programs that were cut in Cedar Rapids, that it is the poor, the disabled and the ill that have no recourse. Why does no one care what happens to those that can't help themselves?
These issues are not addressed, but we can give tax breaks to big corporations and put pipeline everywhere.
