Polk is an amazing school and should remain open

I still can't believe that my brother is turning 6 this month. It seems like yesterday when my dad was picking me up from Arthur Elementary and taking me to the hospital to see my new baby brother. Now, he is a kindergartner at Polk Elementary, one of the schools that the Cedar Rapids school board might close because of the enrollment study. “redistricting enrollment plan.”
I don't get why they want to close Polk; it is an amazing school. The teachers are a lot cooler than mine were (no offense Arthur teachers), and they care. They want their students to do well and go to college. They talk to kindergartners about the importance of college. Test scores are improving, they are teaching the kids to excel, which is the point of school, right? To excel, to go on, be smart, and rule the world one day? How can we do this if we are closing the best schools we have?
I am a junior at Washington High School and I have lived in Cedar Rapids my whole life. This is a good school district, but I really hope the board and the superintendent listen to the parents and students at Polk and choose not to close the school.
