Polk an asset to children, neighborhood

My relationship with Polk School has covered almost 75 years. I still visit Polk from time to time and feel that my assessment of the school is even handed and accurate. Although the world has changed dramatically, many of the basic strengths of Polk have continued if not improved.
Polk is a school that loves and respects its students. This comes from the long-standing culture formed by Polk administrators and teachers over the years. Personal accountability was and is expected. It is learned and reinforced in a loving way as taught by example.
The Polk neighborhood was primarily blue-collar working class, two-parent families in my day. Although that has changed, it doesn't make today's families any less important. Kids need families and families need neighborhoods. Neighborhoods need stores and they need schools and playgrounds. Years ago we got on our bikes and met in the safety of Polk's playground. From what I have seen that is still true today.
Please join me in assuring that Polk School remains where it is doing what it does best. Educating kids.
