Politicians should focus on lowering costs
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I do not trust our mayor and current City Council to do right with the proposed sales tax increase. Supposedly part will go to reduce property taxes. Two days ago, I received my 2011 real estate assessment for my property in Cedar Rapids. It showed a 20 percent increase! Why can't the politicians show the same level of effort in lowering costs as they do in increasing costs?
I am not going to vote to increase my costs for the next 20 years. Politicians can think up an infinite number of ways to spend your money.
