Politicians seem to be protesting the loudest

Has anyone else noticed that some politicians making the most noise about banning the traffic cameras are the ones who've gotten tickets from similar cameras or have kids who did?
In the case of the kids, a responsible parent would make the kid pay his/her own ticket and, if it happens again, take the car away. A responsible parent might even thank the city leaders for teaching his kid a valuable lesson and keeping our roads safer for their families.
But no. They think they're above the law and don't have to follow the posted limits or stop for yellow lights.
Now, if we can only get the revenue from the cameras to all go to road repairs we can really have safe streets.
And while we're on the subject of how our money is being spent, everyone from the Cedar Rapids leaders all the way to the president seem to have forgotten the first rule of a good budget - pay for all necessities first. Then put some aside for unexpected needs and emergencies. Only then should you think about spending some on your “wants.” Our city leaders seem to do it all in reverse order. But the federal politicians are paying for needs first - theirs, but not ours!
