Political campaigns are too negative

To the editor:
Regarding Thomas Miller's Oct. 13 letter 'Political ads are negative, skewed”:
I agree with what Miller writes. Not very many people look forward to an election year because of the negative campaigning. I do not understand why the candidates waste all of their energy on everything their opponent supposedly does wrong. Candidates should worry about what they are going to try and do, instead of bashing their opponents.
I will be of the legal voting age this coming year, but the negativity of it all just makes me not want to vote. I actually dread every election that will be in my future. I realize that I cannot believe everything I read, watch or hear, but negative campaigning has gone too far. As a soon-to-be voter, I want to know what the candidates are going to do and what they want to change. I want to see candidates with a positive outlook for our state and country.
I hope elected officials want what is best for the state and country they represent. There is nothing beneficial if the candidates continue to be cynical.
