Pipeline would be bad for environment

Jim Felker's Oct. 8 letter “Keystone will be good for the environment” writes a nice letter that completely misses the point.
The Keystone XL pipeline will be a turning point in our nation's addiction to fossil fuel. Which way will we turn?
Tar sands oil is an expensive, dirty, dangerous and disastrous new level of fossil fuel development and production, which will wreck havoc on our atmosphere and environment. The point is not how best to extract and exploit this for greater profits for Big Oil. The point is to keep it in the ground to help slow, stop and reverse the buildup of deadly carbon gases in our atmosphere.
As a Christian, my faith instructs and requires me to be a good steward of creation. Tar sands production and pipelines contradicts this covenant and trashes God's good gift of creation given to us to responsibly care for. We can do better than this. Lord knows, we better.
