On May 1, I held my beloved dog in my arms as he made a peaceful journey over the rainbow bridge. My heart was in a million pieces. He was a constant companion for almost 11 years. I already knew I was going to write a tribute to him and put it into the Milestones section of The Gazette. It took me some time to get it done because every time I sat down to do it the tears would not stop.
It published on June 16. A couple of days later there was a sympathy card in my mail with no return address. Upon opening it, there was a copy of my tribute along with a heartfelt message written inside. It blew my mind that someone who doesn't even know me and took the time and effort to do this. I know there are people who don't understand the human/animal bond thing. But I also know there are people who absolutely get it. Pets are part of the family.
Thank you again to the person who sent the card. Proving once again that there are still good people in this crazy mixed world.
