Pet cemetery patrons deserve much better

After reading a recent letter by a lady who was upset about the poor upkeep at the Cedar Valley Humane Society pet cemetery on Mount Vernon Road, I decided to make a trip out there to see for myself. I've had my pet buried there since 1982, plus two others in the 1950s. To my amazement, I could not find my pets' grave marker because of all the overgrowth of weeds, roots and long grass. After using my cane and hands to uncover about eight markers, I finally found my pet's marker. I cleared the growth and cleaned the marker to make it visible again.
I used to be proud to tell my family and friends what a beautiful place the pet cemetery was, but not anymore. For what it costs to have our beloved, deceased pets buried there, I think we the people and our pets deserve much better.
