The Gazette Opinion Staff

“Affordable, reliable energy is vitally important to domestic job creation, our economy, and our national security.” Gov. Rick Perry's energy plan will reduce our dependency on foreign energy sources and create much-needed jobs in America. The highlights of his plan include:
l Expand energy exploration offshore and on federal and private lands across the country by executive order, creating more than 1.2 million jobs.
l Eliminate current and proposed activist Environmental Protection Agency regulations from the Obama administration, saving 2.4 million jobs by 2020 and lowering projected costs by $127 billion.
l Reduce, rebuild and refocus the EPA as federal regulators, returning authority to the states.
l Level the playing field for all energy producers, removing Obama's practice of picking winners and losers.
In Gov. Perry's words, “It is time to end the overregulation, excess litigation and bureaucratic intimidation that has stalled our recovery.”
