Parking inconveniences might be hindering downtown CR’s growth, viability

I often read articles in The Gazette about making downtown Cedar Rapids vibrant and viable. One concern I can’t recall having seen addressed is the inconvenience of parking. I have heard time and time again from many people that they avoid downtown because they have to pay for parking or struggle with how to use the meters. I think it would be worth doing a comparison of the lost revenue from offering free parking with the lost revenue from people avoiding downtown because of the meters. Let’s make downtown a place that’s convenient to visit by offering free parking!
