Parents, re-examine foods you feed children
May. 29, 2010 12:04 am
In response to the May 23 article (“You gonna eat that?”): I can certainly see why the school lunches are being blamed for childhood obesity. It's a lot easier to blame someone else for what parents have done to their children.
Children could not possibly be overweight from the hundreds of fast food kids meals they have eaten over the years, then to sit on their hind ends and play video games for hours on end - no, that could not be the problem.
Nor could the cutting of physical education programs in the schools. Yes it must be the fruits and vegetables, the whole grain pastas and pizza crusts, the low-fat cheese and condiments and the turkey hot dogs, sausage and pepperoni on the school menu.
I think parents need to step back and re-examine the foods they are serving before misdirecting their blame.
