Parents, children should pay for damage caused
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I woke up to a great New Year's Day. I left to go to work and some vandals had to get their sick kicks by shooting out people's car windows with a BB gun.
I am a single mother trying to raise my grandchildren ages 2 and 11. I work full-time and am down to eating once a day to make sure there is enough food in the house for them and to pay for a baby sitter. I cannot afford this.
I will be walking to work now because I have no front windshield. I don't know yet how I will get the youngest to the baby sitters. I am a house payment behind and doing the best I can. I only have liability because my car is a 1997.
At first, I was against parents having to pay for what their children did, but in this case, these vandals are old enough to drive so they are old enough to pay for what they've done or their parents should. I just hope the police can find out who did this.
