Paper coverage is detailed, informative

Contrary to the opinion of a letter writer ('Reader disappointed in paper's coverage,” July 1 by Scott Sander), I find the Cedar Rapids Gazette packed with information most days.
The city coverage isn't of much interest to me because I live in Benton County, but the state, national and international news is in more detail than broadcast can provide and more thought- provoking.
When The Gazette dropped the Associated Press, I was concerned that coverage would shrink, but I've really enjoyed the breadth and depth of Reuters coverage.
The recent articles about Syria and Iraq have been informative and more than I could digest.
The complaint about immigration coverage does not register with me. In fact, I sent links to two of the three Gazette immigration articles within the last 10 days to interested friends, through the Green Gazette online.
As for coverage of foreign policy and IRS emails, I thought some of those topics were covered numerous times, until there was nothing more to say.
If the writer is reading strictly for right-leaning bias confirmation, The Gazette provides more than enough support with a couple of columnists.
And even though I don't always agree with him 100 percent, I appreciate the balance and Iowa perspective of staff columnist Todd Dorman.
I wish my paper wasn't soggy on the front porch or clogging the downspout on the roof occasionally, but otherwise I like getting and reading The Gazette.
