Owning a firearm is a natural right

A recent letter suggested that firearms should be regulated like vehicles ('Firearms should be treated like vehicles,” April 12). Great idea! How about we do the same with freedom of speech and freedom of religion? After all, if we're going to start comparing what the Founding Fathers viewed as natural rights with privileges granted by the state, then everything is fair game.
I suggest that the author start a campaign to call a Constitutional Convention in order to add a 28th Amendment that guarantees a citizen's right to own a vehicle. Once that is accomplished, then we can start to make analogies between the 2nd Amendment and 28th Amendment. Until then, a discussion about regulating firearms like vehicles is a false equivalence.
