Outsourcing jobs hits home
The Gazette Opinion Staff

It is becoming all too familiar that jobs are being outsourced to other countries. It never hits home until it happens to you and your community.
As jobs continue to be hard to find, companies like AEGON have decided to jump ship. They continue to lay off the dedicated employees who made it such a good company. They want to convince the community that layoffs are minimal but they are not telling the entire story. They claim that attrition will eliminate big cuts but they continue to lay off good workers and yet they post openings for positions. What is more disturbing is they are requiring mandatory overtime in some areas, yet they lay off so many.
AEGON is sending many packing in Cedar Rapids and sending their jobs to India. There is not a lot we can do as citizens except spread the word and encourage those spending money on AEGON's services to shop elsewhere.
Why give them our money when reputable companies in America can provide the same service and remain committed to the American people. Absolutely shameless.
