Otis Road residents notice many speeders

We would like to offer condolences to the family of 18-year-old Jacob Markwell, who died in a crash on Otis Road SE on April 14.
We are not surprised that this happened as a lot of drivers and motorcyclists do not obey the speed limits on Otis. We see so much speeding as there is little patrolling from the city and county. The speed limit is 35 mph until you get to the county line where it is 45 mph. From the corner of Otis Road, Otis Avenue and Cole Street, it is not unusual for cars to top at least 60 mph or more before they get to the 45 mph zone and they are usually in the middle of the road. And this leads into a hill which you cannot see over. Right now there is a stretch under construction so we have the added concern of dump trucks and construction equipment on the road that is not set up for heavy trucks.
Because we live on Otis, we cringe daily and nightly hoping there are no accidents.
