To Hanford Post 5 members: Fellow American Legionaries, I am the current Linn County commander. Losing the post that some of you have belonged to for 40 or more years has to be disheartening. But it is just like being sent to a new ship, fort or base - you make the best of it. You make new friends, see other places in the community. With that in mind, there are still 15 posts in Linn County:
Cedar Rapids Post 727, Center Point Post 297, Central City Post 421, Coggon Post 362, Ely Post 555, Fairfax Post 572, Hiawatha Post 735, Lisbon Post 109, Marion Post 298, Mount Vernon Post 480, Palo Post 679, Springville Post 331, Toddville Post 674, Troy Mills Post 712 and Walker Post 376.
Any of you wishing to transfer to one of them would be welcomed. Some of them have numbers in the phone book, but I will help you get in touch with any of them. Call me at my home post, (319) 393-2377, or my home, (319) 393-2601. There is also a county meeting at the post in Springville at 7 p.m. July 26. Most of the county posts will be at that meeting to answer questions and concerns.
The American Legion is a family and we all look out for each other.
