Opportunity to work with local climate group
Peter Rolnick
Nov. 6, 2018 7:30 am
Canada announced that, starting in January 2019, they will adopt a national price on carbon, with revenue from the fee returned directly to Canadians. This is wonderful news. The fact that Citizens' Climate Lobby Canada has been working with Parliament for the past eight years, urging them to implement such a policy, played no small part in making this happen.
We are going to do the same thing in the United States, but we need your help.
Iowa City Climate Advocates, the local chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby USA, is working to empower people to take action to make clear to their members of Congress that a national price on carbon in the U.S. is the right thing to do, and that we need to do it now. Our next meeting is Nov. 10 from noon to 1:30 at Prairie Hill Co-housing Common House, 140 Prairie Hill Lane, Iowa City. If you are tired of partisanship and frustrated with inaction on climate, join our non-partisan effort.
