Open state fair parade to all veterans

Reading Lynda Waddington's column ('Approval, then ban, disrespects veterans,” Aug. 19) brought to my attention the partisan politics that took place during the State Fair Veterans' Parade.
Our veterans, whether Democratic or Republican, have given years of their lives defending democracy and protecting our country and all veterans deserve honor and respect. Banning any of them from appearing in their parade is disrespectful and immature.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds' response to questions about this issue was rather lame since the supposed deciding committee and records of the meeting were not to be found. Her actions make me wonder if governor is the position she should hold.
