One voice calling our leaders to overcome divisions

As a citizen of the United States, I would like to address both Democratic and Republican politicians.
I am disgusted with the constant bickering, arguing, lying, and profanity between the members of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. The American public is confronted daily with hate, vitriol, lies, and political maneuvering. It seems as if the politicians have lost their souls and moral compass. What they said yesterday does not mean they believe it today.
I love a good debate, but what I have witnessed during the last several years has not been a debate. It has been hate. As a nation and as a people, we need desperately to turn the corner and walk back the hate.
I have a suggestion for the legislators. What would happen if the majority party in either the House or the Senate would approach and ask the minority party, 'What one piece of legislation would you like to pass?” Then, work together to debate, find solutions, and pass legislation together to enhance Americans' lives. Once completed, repeat with the other party, and perhaps we could end the 'all of one party for” and 'all of the other party against” reality of today's politics. Has it ever been country before Party?
I do not mean to paint all politicians as having lost their way, as I know several who have not. I am one voice!
