On Zach Johnson and traffic camera fallout

In response to a couple of recent letters, I say, “Did you read your words after you wrote them?” I think not.
Mr. Draheim (May 7) certainly has a right to express his views against the sales tax issue, but the comments about Zach Johnson were stupid. Zach has several causes that he champions, including the building of a flood wall for both sides of the river. Zach, as you do, has every right to speak about an issue he believes is right.
It appears from your letter that you disagree with about everything our city government does or attempts to do. If our property taxes continue to rise, as you say, and exorbitant projects are approved, as you say, then somebody had better toss you a bone because we are going to regress as a city, not progress.
As for Mary Craig's comments (May 8) about the traffic cameras: Break the law - get a ticket. Write all you want, whine all you want - pay the ticket and move on. Some of these whiners are just passing through and got caught, so I say to them, don't come back. Don't threaten us by saying we won't come back. If you break the law, stay away.
Obey the laws and we will always welcome you back.
Jerry Johnson
