O’Donnell understands Cedar Rapids’ non-partisan tradition

Voters have an important decision to make in the upcoming city mayoral runoff election. I urge them to reject the blatant attempt by candidate Amara Andrews and her supporters to turn city elections into partisan races. Tiffany O’Donnell has a long history of community service and a record of accomplishments to support her candidacy. She understands Cedar Rapids and what its needs are going forward. On the other hand, Andrews has sought tens of thousands of dollars from out-of-state donors, hired a current Democratic Linn County supervisor to advise/market her campaign and for, goodness sakes, recently hired a Democratic political operative of the failed presidential campaign of Pete Buttigieg. Why? The answer is very simple. She and those supporting her have a “national” agenda they want to bring to our community. Her campaign has nothing to do with Cedar Rapids and everything to do with bringing national issues and controversy to Cedar Rapids.
For nearly 50 years I have been privileged to work in both public and private life in this wonderful community. Cedar Rapids city government has worked over this long period because it has been “non-partisan.” I have never seen a Republican street or a Democratic sewer.
Do not be complacent! Vote O’Donnell on Nov. 30.
