Obey traffic laws to avoid getting ticket

To the editor:
In response to the Dec. 3 letter 'Tourist will spend money elsewhere,” I wondered if we, the city, were being 'threatened” or 'bribed.”
The letter writer, Arlin Bornschlegl of Rochester, Minn., said that since he was caught breaking the law by speeding on Interstate 380, that on the next trip he would not spend his money here. A threat? Then I thought maybe a 'bribe” for us to allow him to speed and break the law because he had lots of money to spend and how the city would lose money instead of making money. The cameras are for safety, not cash.
Drive your Cadillac Escalade a different route and we'd be safer. He said he'd be more 'aware” of the speed limits next time. He should be aware 100 percent of the time on I-380 or any roadway. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can break the law. The law isn't for the less affluent and it does apply to the wealthy. Driving is a privilege, not a right. The speed limits are in place for a reason not to inconvenience someone going somewhere.
To all who speed, text, no turn signal, tailgate etc.: Obey the rules of the road and don't complain when you get caught on camera or stopped by an officer.
