Obama’s public speaking may have cost him
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Finally, President Obama has succeeded in something that might lead to the salvation of our country: getting the attention of enough Americans to make it possible to stop his “fundamental transformation” of our government. Whatever he did to tip the scale - thank you, Mr. President.
Was it a case of just one too many campaign speeches? He made 411 speeches or public statements in his first 365 days. Did he just take one too many trips on Air Force One at a cost of $65,000 an hour? Or was it by appointing two dozen administration “czars” behind the back of Congress?
Perhaps people began to notice the mounting broken promises to change business-as-usual - for what: secret meetings behind closed doors? Or meaningless pledges of bipartisanship and no more pork or earmarks (not one dime) while making special deals with Louisiana and Nebraska and Florida to buy votes?
The voters of Massachusetts caught on. Three cheers for Republican Senator-elect Scott Brown. And how do the Democrats and President Obama react? Blame their own Martha Coakley and (still) former President Bush.
The fact that they don't get it is the best thing that could happen to us - now that he's got our attention.
