Obama with majority on issues
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 9, 2013 9:49 am
Let's consider six positions on six political topics: support for same-sex marriage, a women's right to have an abortion, immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for most undocumented immigrants, reasonable restrictions on assault weapons and large magazines, raising the minimum wage and balanced budget deficit reduction of spending cuts and increases in revenue.
With respect to each of these positions, polling clearly indicates that more than 50 percent of Americans agree and support is growing. By contrast, most Republican politicians object to these positions.
President Barack Obama has embraced each of these positions. Some continue to refer to Obama as a left-wing extremist. How can that be when his positions are consistently supported by more than 50 percent of the people?
