Obama wants to tax and control business
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The debt ceiling mess and those Republicans. If the Republicans had not been so obstinate and uncooperative, we would already have a new higher debt ceiling and a larger government.
Historically, larger government is what Democrats strive for even more so than Republicans. Taxing and controlling business is what President Obama is always promoting, but that is what stifles business. We see the results of stifling business - fewer private sector jobs and less tax to collect.
Our job-generating companies are unwilling to expand now because they have seen the interference Obama has exhibited toward the private sector. If Obama and his administration get their way, we will have fewer private-sector jobs, larger government and greater national debt. You see where we are. Obama is promising more of the same. Is that the hope and change we voted for?
Big government equals more revenues needed equals more pressure on private business equals less ability to hire equals greater unemployment equals less revenue for taxes equals greater national debt equals more revenues needed equals more pressure.
Obama is a convincing speaker and inspires confidence in many people. He is good at getting what he wants. Let's call the debt ceiling what it is - the debt elevator.
Perhaps it is time to rename Obama's ship of state to the Titanic.
