Obama voters gave away their liberty
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 8, 2012 9:44 am
An acquaintance sarcastically asked me the day after the election: “So, how did your Romney guy do?” The election was not about a man or a party; it was about the direction of this country and the future of our constitution and individual sovereignty.
On Veterans Day, individuals and groups expressed appreciation for what our troops are doing so that we might enjoy our lattes and fantasy football nonsense. Soldiers endure unspeakable hardships, mental and physical. Some give the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. Yet when we civilians are called upon to do something as simple as marking an oval, or pushing a button, or pulling a lever, we choose to sacrifice our liberty.
What has happened that so many have forgotten Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Antietam, Ardennes, Guadalcanal, Normandy, Pork Chop Hill, the jungles of Vietnam, Iraq and Iran - all struggles against tyranny that robbed humans of individual freedom and dignity.
A vote for the current president and his cohorts accepted what our troops have fought for so hard to defeat. You have told these troops that their sacrifice was for nothing.
Holding on to liberty and individual freedom takes vigilance and sacrifice. Giving it away is easy. The latter has been chosen. What a shame!
