Obama serves interests of common man

Hurrah for the United States and the bravery and patriotism of those congressmen who voted for the health care reform bill. But the hate and fear-mongering is not over. The courageous Democrats who stuck their necks out for us must be supported in the coming elections in every way possible. The Republicans who thought they could make political hay by manipulating this issue must not be rewarded for their sleazy tactics.
It is strange that a health care reform bill so sensible and modest, so conservative and so full of nearly everything that Republicans had asked for was so viciously attacked. The purpose of government is to protect and improve the lives of its people in ways they cannot do for themselves.
In Barack Obama's book, “The Audacity of Hope,” he explained that he became a Democrat to serve the interests of the common man. He is no elitist. He looked out for us on “main street.”
