Obama disrespects religion, Constitution
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 16, 2012 11:49 am
Today, we have a president who is clearly hostile to Christianity. Never before in America has freedom of religion been attacked like President Obama's Health and Human Services mandate that requires that all hospitals and schools pay for insurance for their employees that includes abortion-inducing drugs, contraception and sterilization. This goes against the beliefs of most Christians and has caused a firestorm of objection.
In February, the president announced his “accommodation” which changed nothing. Now, 43 Catholic organizations have filed suit against the mandate. Other denominations are also objecting although little of it has been in the mainstream media.
Our First Amendment guarantees Freedom of Religion, but our president shows little respect for our Constitution. The danger today of losing our religious freedom is very real. We must fight this evil that our government is trying to force upon us. For evil to flourish takes only that good men remain silent.
