Nuclear power plant’s extension well-deserved

Congratulations to NextEra Energy for obtaining a 20-year extension of the operating license for the Duane Arnold Energy Center. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission granted the extension to Iowa's only nuclear power plant after a 26-month environmental and safety review.
The extension is the result of exceptional skill and hard work performed by hundreds of dedicated employees and contract company personnel. Iowa's only nuclear power station went into operation in 1974.
I am proud to have been a part of the nuclear energy public information effort during construction and initial Energy Center operation.
