Nuclear deal could be diplomatic disaster

To the editor:
The so-called Iran nuclear deal is no deal, but a lopsided concession. Even worse, it is a breach of trust with our ally, Israel. The 'deal” would obligate the U.S. to lift sanctions, give billions to Iran, while being limited, delayed or even prohibited from making important inspections to determine if Iran is complying. If that is not bad enough, the 'deal” would obligate the U.S. and U.N. partners to protect or even counter military or cyberattacks against Iran. This would pit the U.S. against our ally Israel who wants to protect herself against a neighbor who has vowed to destroy her.
The process of secret side deals and the administration's move to advocate this cause directly with the U.N. Security Council before U.S. Congressional review ignored the elected representatives of Americans. And because of our own rules, two-thirds majority would be required to override a president's veto to stop what could be a diplomatic disaster. No wonder over 10,000 people protested this 'deal” in NYC's Times Square.
Why would we want to surrender to the will of a nation that cries, 'Death to America”? Why would we abandon our best Middle East ally, and moreover agree to be her enemy? To avoid war? World War II history has shown given enough time and concessions, the enemy will take all it can get. This is a bipartisan life and death matter I urged our Iowans in D.C. to get right. How about you?
