Not so golden in Trump’s ‘golden age’

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Chuck Grassley needed to retire with Tom Harkin. Instead, in the past decade he has managed to lock his entire political legacy to Trump and MAGA. If the mess cannot be corrected the historical record will not be kind to either man.
Grassley led the Senate panel that ushered in the Trump cabinet of Fox TV folks. billionaires and assorted social misfits. None were qualified and now are responsible for much of the chaos in government. Some are being pressed to resign as their frailties become obvious.
The serious security breaches committed by this cabinet have allowed Grassley to avoid telling Iowans about one of his most galling appointments. The new head of the FBI and ATF, Kash Patel, has stated his desire to run both bureaus from Las Vegas so he can continue to live with a friend and Republican donor in his fancy house. Look into this yourself and as you uncover revelations you will learn that my comment was neither lurid nor scandalous.
Grassley continues to enable Trump in ways other than approval of a cabinet full of bums. Trump violates the rule of law daily and berates judges telling him no while losing over 50 cases this year. And Chuck has been there to echo Trump's nonsense. What happened to our senator? And the economy? It seems things are worsening in this “golden age.”
