Not necessary to pay people to live certain places

What has happened in Newton where businesses have been given government loans? They have more businesses than employees to fill them ('Should we pay people to move to Iowa?” Dec. 1). In the past, businesses were drawn to communities where there was a need, not the other way around.
Newton is very close to Des Moines. There is no reason to give people tax-paid income to live there. If prices are lower and the people are friendly, people will come.
North Liberty is a good example of this. In the 1970s, North Liberty had just over 2,000 people. Look at it today.
Patience will change things in Newton. Be patient.
