Not all agree pipeline would be beneficial

To the editor:
Recently, The Gazette published a guest column about how wonderful the Bakken pipeline would be for Iowa and America ('Pipeline would be beneficial,” July 8). Apparently, some Iowans do not agree.
I have received a packet from the Iowa Utilities Board that contains a list of people who signed pro or con on an online form.
I am not particularly scientific. However, I noticed there were many more objectors than those in favor. Of just under 80 people who were in favor of the pipeline, more than 30 are from out of state. Of that 30, four are from Bald Knob, Ark., and four are from Duluth, Minn.
Curiously, there were under 3,000 people living in Bald Knob, according to the 2010 census. They must really love the stench of crude oil there.
The pipeline objectors numbered 370. Of these, nine are from out of state.
I wonder which side the Iowa Utilities Board will favor.
