Noise ordinance not being enforced

To the editor:
I don't know about you folks, but I am tired of the City of Marion's continued bragging about its goal to become the best city in the state in which to raise a family while at the same time ignoring the enforcement of its worthless noise and loud muffler ordinance.
Until the city's police department writes as many monthly traffic citations for loud mufflered motorcycles, pickup trucks and construction dump trucks as they do seat belt violations, the city will never achieve its goal.
I heard somewhere that Marion may have the highest number of traffic patrol cars per capita in the state, maybe the entire country. If this is true, I'd like to know where they spend their time patrolling (not north Marion for sure) and I suggest they roll the car windows down once in a while and listen to the noise the rest of us have to put up with.
