No need to shake up judicial process

As someone who has practiced law in Iowa for 29 years, I can tell you that our judges are outstanding. The nomination and selection process is not 'broken.” This is merely an attempt by the Iowa Legislature to gain power, by taking away power from the people and the executive branch. It's a violation of the separation of powers, as well being short-sighted and simple-minded.
Most of the current judges in Iowa were selected by Republican Govs. Kim Reynolds or Terry Branstad. Our judges have a rich history of protecting the rights of all Iowans and of interpreting the Iowa Constitution. I can assure you that there are very few 'activist judges.” That's merely a term made up by legislators who aren't getting their way with their proposed laws, or want more power.
